Welcome

[edit]

I'd like to welcome you into the Wikipedia community. I'm sort of embarrassed that no one has already welcomed you. Anyway I saw that you wanted to do something with the Once Upon A Time.... page. It also looks interesting to me. I am also fairly new, but if you have any questions ask me, and I'd either know or try and find out the answer for you. --Rentastrawberry 03:09, Apr 2, 2005 (UTC)

Correction: Bnei Akiva SA

[edit]

Hi. South African youth movements generally gauge size by the numbers they get at Machanot, specifically the end of year camps. Last year, Habonim Dror 'beat' Bnei by over 100 people, and thus can be considered the larger of the two. Both movements run activities throughtout the year, but it would be difficult to gage numbers that way. Habonim is also sending a significant number more kids on Shorashim (Bnei's Hadracha), a good indication of channichim's affiliation with the movment. Please forward your own 'proof' to me - danielbarn@gmail.com - and make the nessasary correction on the Bnei page.

Hi -- and also welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed your alternative proposal on the discussion page -- and well, I ran with it. Be Bold! So please drop over and look at the messes I've made. Below is my initial note on the discussion page.

"I'll join in, but I think we all have to take some initiative to get this off the ground. The time constraints may be the main difficulty. After all, everyone here does have a real life, don't they? What if we took the info above, claimed a chapter, wrote from one of the listed characters or additional character's POV (I'll be Ethelynn, the new upstairs maid - Chapter 7, User:WBardwin/Chapter.), and then put it together and edit jointly for content and flow? Each character would tell about events before, the murder, and events after from their POV, then we would have different snapshots to work from. We could then jointly write the revelation of the murderer and the conclusion. Having the first chapter to work from would be important, however. How goes it. Gkhan?"

Hope to see you grab a chapter too! You did want to be Mr. Adams? WBardwin 14:35, 29 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm still interested -- but feedback is so essential if we are to produce a rational story line. How about picking a character in the mystery story (see above) and giving it a shot. You did express an interest in Adams. I'll be glad to comment and help. I think it still could work -- just slowly, it appears. Best. WBardwin 19:42, 19 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Akiva Eger

[edit]

dear Ayinyud,

would it be possible to move Akiva Eiger back to Eger. I am a descendant of him and all records point to his name being Eger. Also, his first name is spelled Akiba in some references.

from Yellowmellow45 22:22, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

As I'm sure you know, user templates are opinions shared by several members of Wikipedia. They are templates employed on individual user pages only, and do not claim to represent the official shared position of the Wikipedia collective. Still, some self-appointed dictators feel it is their responsibility to control individual expression on user pages. Template:User-AmE-0, for example, was deleted by User:Kelly Martin; after being recreated, it was tagged for deletion by User:DreamGuy and its category removed by User:Carbonite. There are but a few people who want to control personal expression on user pages at Wikipedia and hundreds of us who do not want these few to succeed. In standing together to revert tyranny, despotism and censorship of individual expression on our personal pages, we can easily overcome these dictator-wanna-bees. Wikipedia can be for the people. Please help us oppose those in the Arbitration Committee Elections who would turn Wikipedia into a dictatorship of controlled articles and user pages: Kelly Martin, Jpgordon, Fred Bauder, James F., Jayjg, and Mindspillage.

If you feel passionately about this, you can join us in alerting other users of these individual tags, that their personal expression on their user pages is being censored by people like User: Carbonite. To help, just go to any of the templates that User:Carbonite has tried to change, and alert the people in those categories that they are not alone in their outrage and opposition. --لæmäļ al diη 21:55, 9 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ayinyud, I reverted the message above because it was left by a banned user (a sockpuppet of User:Zephram Stark). He was leaving the message in a "vote-stacking" attempt, which is not permitted by Wikipedia policy. Sorry for any confusion. Carbonite | Talk 13:23, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Ayinyud. Just so you should know, Rav Meidan recently requested that his name be spelled as Yaaqov Medan. You can see this reflected in the latest Etzion Update (PDF), in the first couple of lines. I'm not sure what this means in terms of Wikipedia:Naming conventions, so I'm putting the issue on hold for now, but we should consider moving the article to Yaaqov Medan. Either way, a whole lot of redirects are in order. Shalom, DLand 19:02, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I posed the question to IZAK. Let's see what he thinks. --DLand 19:57, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

add new articles or stubs to portal list

[edit]

Hi and shalom. Kudos on adding several new entries. Please add your new contributions to Portal:Israel/New article announcements in order to:

  • let other Israeli-interested people know,
  • avoid duplicate articles
  • notify others who might take the baton and continue updating/improve your additions, editing, and category/stubs.

Bnei Akiva

[edit]

Hi

I notice you're in a "revert war" over what is the largest Zionist lardy dardy dah in SA.

Do you have stats to back up your assertion?

If not, I propose that the article should be amended to read "one of the largest".

Thanks, --Dweller 00:59, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article on terrorism

You may find the article Terrorists of Pakistani origin interesting. It may be deleted soon in perhaps a few hours.

Timelines

[edit]

As I pointed out with regards to Maimonides, the timeline should not be at the top of the article. This flies in the face of every Wikipedia formatting convention. I really think you should move them to the bottom of the respective articles.

I like the idea, though. Wouldn't it be better if you packed the whole thing in a template, so you don't need to update the code on every single page if you want to make modifications? JFW | T@lk 12:19, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Aaahh, templates. Start by having a look at Help:Template. Decide which content is generic, and which content you'd like to pass to the template as an argument. Your timeline is eminently suited for templatization. There are who may be willing to advise on the finer details. JFW | T@lk 18:12, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please Vote, as per wiktionary the correct spelling is Wiktionary:anti-Semitic NOT Antisemitic. 70.49.85.238 20:50, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Ayinyud! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 699 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Yehuda Amital - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Yaaqov Medan - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

A tag has been placed on Jekuthiel ben Solomon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hello, I see you have made fine contributionss to Wikipedia , but I am posting this food picture to catch your attention because I can not find another way on your User Page to contact you. I was wondering if you created the time line you use or you found it somewhere, and if I have permission to use it elsewhere, not on wikipedia. Thank you. Also, I hope you understood my American English. I hope you liked the tea, which as you know, Americans think British drink all day. Sandywhite123 (talk) 22:05, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, that's embarrassing- I just saw you're from SA; well enjoy the tea anyway.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
